Nicolas Vonthron is the Chief Executive Officer at Mama Money, the World’s First Social Business Money Transfer Operator. He is based in Cape Town.

Nicolas brings over 15 years’ experience in developing business strategy and dealing with mobile network operators and financial services providers in emerging markets, including Africa, the Middle-East, Asia and Latin America. His specialties lie in mobile money, with recognised industry expertise on interoperability and cross-border payments.

In his role at Mama Money, Nicolas is responsible for managing operations, driving efficiency and accelerating the company’s international expansion through partnerships.

Prior to joining Mama Money, Nicolas was TransferTo's EVP for Europe and Africa where he started their cross-border business in the region. He also led the Mobile Money interoperability initiative at the GSMA and held various roles at Orange.
