The 11th Global Money Transfer Summit

Remittances are playing an increasingly large role in the economies of many countries. They contribute to economic growth and to the livelihoods of less prosperous people. 

During these two days the summit will explore the challenges and opportunities for success in all aspects of the remittance business going forward, using the lessons of recent history. The Summit will showcase the dynamism and innovation of the remittance marketplace. It will also serve as a platform where views can be exchanged on how to address obstacles and challenges.

because migrant workers and their families “didn’t count”. This
has changed dramatically, as remittances have now become an
important part of the development agenda for governments and
international organisations.

The regulatory environment is constantly changing and currently around the world items ranging from AML directives to tax and Brexit on remittances are being constantly debated and.  This session will look at how the industry can provide more input into these matters and become more effective.  It will also discuss some of the updates in detail.

In this session we will discuss the role of the post office within the remittances and the broader payments market. Post offices are known to be one of the largest cash-in and cash-out networks for the MTOs. They often offer post-to-post remittance services cheaper and in some cases already below the 5 per cent and they play an important role in the financial inclusion for the rural last mile. Discussing upcoming and existing initiatives, challenges and opportunities the session will look into how Post offices can remain relevant in the digital payments space.
